My Brother's Keeper

My Brother’s Keeper is a shelter for homeless men in the city of Flint, Michigan.

History

My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) was founded in 2005  by Patrick McNeal as a shelter for homeless men in the city. The shelter began as a warming center for people who needed a place to retreat from the cold weather. In its first winter, MBK served 480 people the first winter it opened as a warming center and food pantry.

In 2007, MBK changed to a 25 bed men facility for emergency shelter for up to 60 days. Today, MBK has grown into a 30 bed emergency shelter and a 19 bed Veteran contract for Ann Arbor and Saginaw Health System.

MBK’s vision is ending the homeless bench marks in a manner that is polite, ethical and effective.

MBK has built a reputation on integrity and customer service. Their knowledge and experience includes the following:

  • A new executive team that has over 50 years of combined experience in non-profit organization management.

  • An operational staff with many years of experience in providing service in the non-profit and homeless community.

The focal point of their daily operations is to understand their clients’ needs and regulatory compliance to local, state and federal laws.

The Adult Foster Care Providers of Genesee County, Inc. is a non-profit organization incorporated in 1976. Our philosophy is to promote the highest quality of care for elderly or handicapped individuals, living in adult foster care and assisted living homes. We work closely with home owners & administrators, offering continuing education, training and guidance. We also partner with many organizations in our community that offer supportive services to our residents.

 

Our organization’s mission is to enrich the lives of the elderly and handicapped residents, living in licensed homes. We also work closely with area Families, Social Workers, and Agencies, providing referral assistance, to be sure each individual finds placement, in a LICENSED CARE FACILITY, that is able to meet all of their needs.

Our website and directory provides a listing of licensed members, their location, and the type of services they provide. Each provider listed is LICENSED & INSPECTED by the State of Michigan, Department of Human Services, Adult Foster Care Licensing Division.

Traverse House

Traverse Place program of Reach Resource Services offers quality transitional housing for homeless youth from 17 to 21 years of age. This program can go up to 21 months and provides help to homeless teens, getting them on their feet and learning life skills.

 

Our program is available for those who are looking to get on their feet, need a place to stay, or need help graduating school.

Our goal is to provide you with a safe place to stay and to teach you the life lessons you need. You will be required to attend life skills training. Our compassionate and kind staff will provide you with the tools to achieve great things, all for FREE!

First Responders

Fire Department

t is an honor for me to be a part of this great city, along with the great firefighters that have come to the call to serve the citizens of Grand Blanc City.

We are a growing department with more than 28 certified firefighters that are committed to protecting and serving.

I came here with over 32 years of fire service, including fire investigations, retiring from the City of Burton Fire Department in November of 2019 as a Battalion Chief.  I was also a Detective for the City of Burton Police Department, also retiring in November of 2019.  I am a current member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs, the International Association of Arson Investigators, The Michigan Association of Fire Chiefs, Southeastern Michigan Fire Chiefs, National Volunteer Fire Council
